Conservation and Sustainable Utilisation of Underutilised Taro to Increase Food Security and Improve Livelihoods of Marginalised Communities Faced with Climate Change

As part of the baseline survey activities, interviews and focus group discussions were held in several localities
Interview sessions were held in Semenyih, Selangor with a taro farmer producing the local variety called 'Keladi mawar'. The farmer's plot size is 0.6ha and harvested output is 1,200kg. The farmer markets the taro through online platforms and has obtained good prices.

Focus group discussions (FGD) were held in Muar, Johor with a group of five respondents. The farmers produce the local variety "Keladi mawar' with an average cultivation area of 1.26ha

There are pending interviews and FGDs to be conducted but due to current movement restrictions in place due to the pandemic, this is will take longer to carry out.
