Conservation and Sustainable Utilisation of Underutilised Taro to Increase Food Security and Improve Livelihoods of Marginalised Communities Faced with Climate Change
Characterization of the local taro germplasm collections, Indonesia
Date: October 2021
Characterization of the local taro germplasm collections has been conducted and six (6) local genotypes have been identified.
Six (6) local genotypes namely 'Taro Beneng Banten', 'Beneng Bondowoso', 'Taro Bogor', 'Taro Bakso Satoimo 1', 'Taro Bakso Satoimo 2' and 'Taro NTT' were characterized and at the same time propagated for further distribution to farmers in farmer field school (FFS) activities. These accessions are currently being micro-propagated in-vitro in IPB University's laboratories.
